TeMa North America Breaks Ground for Manufacturing Plant in Jefferson County, West Virginia
April 30, 2018
TeMa North America has broken ground for a new facility in Jefferson County, marking the Italian-based company's first manufacturing operation in North America.
The 42,000-square-foot manufacturing plant is being built in the Burr Business Park in Kearneysville. When completed this fall, the $10 million facility will produce insulation and drainage systems for residential, commercial, and industrial uses such as erosion control, soil reinforcement, aqua control, and green roofs.
""TeMa North America will have a state-of-the-art facility in our park, further strengthening our economy and bringing new jobs to West Virginians in the Eastern Panhandle,"" said Nicolas Diehl, executive director of the Jefferson County Development Authority. ""We are honored that Jefferson County was selected as the site of TeMa's first U.S. manufacturing facility and proud to be able to compete in a global marketplace.""
Tonj Ciotto, chief executive officer of TeMa North America LLC, said the plant will have an automated assembly line and employ 30 people. Recruitment for employees is already underway, and the company has the opportunity to expand in the near future. ""I'm proud to be a part of this project,"" he said. ""This is only the beginning.""
After touring locations in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, and some other areas, Ciotti visited Jefferson County for the first time in April 2017. ""I found myself in the right place at the right time. It was a good feeling,"" he said. ""It was love at first sight with this place.""
Jefferson County Commission Peter Onoszko said TeMa's groundbreaking shows that Jefferson County is open for business and he is eagerly anticipating the company's opening in the fall. Congratulatory remarks were also shared by Chris Strovel, Eastern Panhandle field representative for U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and Michael Garcia, Eastern Panhandle field representative for U.S. Senator Joe Manchin.
TeMa also has production facilities in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Romania, and Russia.
