Business Spotlight January 2023 - Elevate Your Team

Trainer, motivator, and collaborator are just a few titles that describe Vicky Fields, owner of the Jefferson County business, Elevate Your Team. 

Vicky grew up in Brunswick, MD and graduated from Elon University with a B.A. in Corporate Communications. After college and a bit of traveling, she settled into a career in Jefferson County and quickly realized how much further money went in W.V. In 2010, she officially made the move and has lived happily in Jefferson County ever since.

Vicky’s employment background covers a variety of different fields including customer service, operations, leadership development, human resources, and training experience. “There came a point when organizations outside of my work started asking me to speak for them. The energy of bringing a room full of people on a journey of learning is pretty incredible” notes Vicky. The early days of the pandemic allowed ample time for reflection on who she wanted to be for her family and how she wanted to spend her time. By the end of 2020, Elevate Your Team was born.

Services provided by Elevate Your Team include keynote speaking, consulting, and learning and development.  Each of these are perfect utilizations of her education, work experience, and expertise.  As a Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resources Management, (SHRM-SCP), Vicky puts her skills into action assisting businesses through in-house training and consulting.  A few of the many training topics businesses request are Team Building, Time Management & Prioritization, and Communication. Research shows in-house training is a cost-effective solution that can have an incredibly positive impact on employee development, productivity, and morale which in turn will, “elevate your team.”

Recently, Vicky has partnered with Andrea Davis, owner of Mountain View Coaching to develop a new program called Leadership Quests.  This conference is designed for high school aged students and creates opportunities for participants to learn more about goal setting, financial basics, networking, and authenticity. It provides future leaders with practical real-world skills to carry with them into adulthood. The first conference will be held on February 25^th at the Clarion Inn in Harpers Ferry. Fill Your Cup is another program Vicky offers, stemming from her own need to re-identify personal core values and align her goals with them.  This program allows her to collaborate with others and share best practices and actionable approaches when it comes to creating your own success, whatever that may look like. Vicky has spent her entire career helping people succeed and the Fill Your Cup program is, yet another tool designed to guide your personal/professional goals to fruition through learning, collaboration and action.

Vicky’s advice to entrepreneurs thinking of starting a business, “Do it, but have a plan first. Write a business plan, take advantage of local resources for small businesses, understand your niche, and identify your real reason for doing this. There will be great times, fine times, and hard times – having your foundation in place will make all of that easier.”
