Kent Cartridge Expands Facility in Jefferson County
August 12, 2016
Kent Cartridge, a leading manufacturer of shotshell ammunition for hunting, sport shooting, and training rounds, has expanded its facility in Kearneysville, and company officials gave local elected officials, economic development leaders, and members of the Jefferson County business community a tour as part of the ribbon cutting ceremony on August 10.
The $1.6 million expansion project included the purchase of two new high-speed machines, a 20,000-square-foot addition to the warehouse space, and construction of a 200,000-gallon water tower required for the new fire suppression system.
Operating in Jefferson County for almost 33 years, including nearly 20 years as Kent Cartridge, the expansion was needed to accommodate customer demand and provide good customer service. "We're proud that we have a business that has grown and needed to expand," said Linda Barnhart, vice president of Kent Cartridge. "We ship our shotgun shells all over the United States and to Canada. Our goal is to ship out an order as soon as we receive it and to ship it out complete."
Currently, Kent Cartridge employs about 24 people from Jefferson and Berkeley counties at its Kearneysville location. The company produces ammunition for the hunting of waterfowl, turkey, upland birds, and target shooting.
